The Ultimate Toy Care & Hygiene Checklist

A single forgotten plug can give you a yeast infection, a broken 300-€ favorite whip, or a months-long smell in the bedroom. This checklist is the result of 15 years of scene experience: which cleaners really work, how to keep silicone like new for 10 years, and why your leather suddenly doesn't mold. Read it once, print it out – and your toys (and your health) will thank you with years of loyalty.

Whoever doesn't care for their toys properly plays with bacteria, fungi, or broken favorites sooner or later. Here's the complete, practice-tested checklist – no theory, just what really works.

toys11. Immediately After Every Session (Mandatory!)

  • Rinse toys immediately under warm water (no toy lies around wet for hours)
  • Wipe off visible bodily fluids (tissue or paper towel)
  • Dispose of condoms immediately (never use twice!)
  • Metal & glass toys directly in dishwasher at 70 °C or boiling water (3 min)
  • Cages/belts clean with wet wipes + air out

2. Thorough Cleaning by Material

MaterialCleanerMethodDryingStorage

3. Disinfection – When and How

  • Before and after every partner change → 70% alcohol or boil 10 min (depending on material)
  • In case of blood, anal, or illness → boil immediately, dish soap or alcohol + let act 10 min
  • Once a month disinfect all toys completely (even if solo only)

4. Storage – What Gets Ruined Most

  • Never in plastic bags or directly against each other (materials react!)
  • Each plug/dildo in its own fabric bag
  • Whips/floggers hanging or flat (never bent)
  • Cages always store open (no mold formation)
  • Box with silica gel bag against humidity
  • Dark, cool, dust-free (no radiator, no windowsill)

5. Monthly Toy Inventory (15 Minutes, Saves Favorites)

  • Check for cracks, breaks, discolorations
  • Test silicone for "sticky" spots → dispose immediately
  • Check leather for cracks or mold
  • Remove batteries from all toys
  • Check charging cables

6. Never-Ever List

  • No perfume, no shower gel, no scented dish soap
  • No boiling TPE/TPR/latex
  • No alcohol on leather/latex
  • No toy left wet longer than 24 h
  • No shared use without condom/disinfection
