Recognizing and Treating Subdrop & Domdrop Properly

The Invisible Hangover After the Session – and How to Prevent or Heal It

The session was insane, you were closer than ever – and 24 hours later she cries for no reason, or you suddenly feel guilty and empty. That's no "psycho stuff," that's pure biology, and it hits almost every couple at some point. Read this article and you'll know exactly when the drop comes, how to stop it in minutes, and how to build future sessions where it almost never happens again.

Many think: Session was hot → all good. Then comes the crash: tears, emptiness, anger, guilt feelings – sometimes only 24–72 hours later. That's no "psycho stuff," that's biology. And it hits Subs AND Doms.

subdropWhat Exactly Happens in the Body and Mind?

During the Session

  • Adrenaline + Endorphins + Oxytocin + Dopamine at maximum
  • Pain → natural opiates
  • Surrender / Control → extreme emotional opening

After

  • All messengers drop within minutes to hours
  • Cortisol (stress hormone) rises as counter-reaction
  • The brain suddenly feels "empty" → classic drop

Subdrop – The 7 Most Common Symptoms

  1. Sudden tears without reason
  2. Feeling of emptiness / "I'm worthless"
  3. Extreme fatigue or insomnia
  4. Guilt feelings ("I was too loud / not submissive enough")
  5. Body cold, shivering, circulation problems
  6. Irritability or withdrawal
  7. Binge eating (especially sweets/fatty)

Can come immediately or strike only on day 2–3.

Domdrop – Yes, the Dominant Crashes Too!

Often underestimated, but just as intense.

Typical Domdrop symptoms:

  • Guilt feelings ("Was I too hard?")
  • Sudden insecurity ("Did they really like it?")
  • Emotional emptiness ("Now everything is normal again… somehow shitty")
  • Aggression or withdrawal
  • Physical exhaustion (adrenaline crash)

The 4 Phases of a Drop + What You Must Do in Each Phase

Phase 1 – Directly After the Session (0–2 Hours) → Prevention is better than cure Mandatory: full aftercare (see article)

  • Blanket, water, sweets
  • At least 30 minutes cuddling + praise
  • No being alone

Phase 2 – Evening/Night After

  • Sleep together or at least write again
  • Good night message: "I'm so proud of you. You were perfect."
  • Give stuffed animal or worn hoodie from Dom

Phase 3 – Day 1–3 After (Here Comes the Actual Drop) This is the critical period.

Immediate Measures in Case of Recognizable Drop For the Sub:

  • Call, not just write
  • "I'm here. You're not alone. That's normal."
  • Eventually come spontaneously with blanket + chocolate + hug
  • Schedule cuddle date without sex/play
  • Eat sweet + salty (body needs sugar and electrolytes)

For the Dom (if Domdrop comes):

  • Be honest: "I'm having a small drop right now too."
  • Sub may care now (get blanket, pet, say "You were wonderful")
  • Role switch allowed – enormously strengthens trust

Phase 4 – Prevention for the Next Session (The best drops are the ones that don't come at all.)

8 Proven Drop Prevention Tricks

  1. Never play on empty stomach
  2. At least 2 liters water during + after session
  3. Aftercare never less than 50% of play time
  4. Next day contact obligation (min. 3 messages + 1 call)
  5. Take vitamin B, magnesium, chocolate in advance
  6. Session never right before separation (e.g. if one has to go to work immediately)
  7. Write drop plan before: "If I drop, you may…"
  8. For long/intense sessions: Plan 2–3 days buffer

The Emergency Plan (If the Drop is Really Hard)

  • Sub cries for hours / has suicidal thoughts → call immediately or go
  • Dom has extreme guilt feelings → immediate honest conversation + role switch cuddling
  • In persistent drop over 5 days: professional help (kink-aware therapist)

Mini-Drop Checklist to Print

  • Aftercare at least 30–60 min
  • Sweet + water directly after
  • Good night message
  • Morning message + "How are you really?"
  • Day 2–3: Spontaneous cuddle meeting
  • In tears/emptiness: Immediate contact + "That's normal"

The Sentence that Almost Always Makes the Drop Better Immediately

"I'm here. You're not alone. That's just the chemistry – not the truth about you."

Drop is no sign of weakness. Drop is the proof photo of how deep you were together.

Whoever drops right and catches right builds a dynamic no vanilla couple will ever reach.
