10 Years of Collar: A Long-Term D/s Relationship in Interview

In-Depth Conversation with Victoria (42, Dominant) and Julian (55, submissive)

Exactly ten years ago, Victoria placed her first collar on Julian – a simple black leather band with a small silver ring. Since then, they have lived a conscious, 24/7-oriented D/s relationship in a Female-Led-Relationship (FLR). They are married, have no children, and share a fulfilling life between work, travel, and their dynamic. In this exclusive interview, they speak openly about highs and lows, what they've learned, and what they would do differently today.

kinky im leben2Queen`s Club Magazin: Congratulations on your 10-year collar anniversary! How does it feel?

Victoria: Unbelievable. It feels like yesterday when I put the collar on Julian for the first time. Back then, it was a milestone – today, it's simply part of us. It feels stable, deep, and still exciting.

Julian: For me, it's pure gratitude. This collar symbolizes not only devotion, but also security and love. Ten years mean we've endured a lot – and emerged stronger.

Queen`s Club Magazin: Tell us about the beginning. How did you find each other and come to the D/s dynamic?

Victoria: We met vanilla – through mutual friends at a party. I've always been the "strong" one who makes decisions, and Julian liked that from the start. After a few months of dating, we talked openly about fantasies. I realized I was dominant, and Julian admitted he craved guidance. It developed completely naturally.

Julian: I had submissive inclinations before, but never lived them out. With Victoria, it felt right. The first collar was after about a year – a ritual we designed together. It was more emotional than our wedding.

Queen`s Club Magazin: What were the biggest highs in these ten years?

Victoria: The deep moments of connection – when Julian surrenders completely, and I feel the responsibility. Travel is a highlight: We were in Japan and did Shibari workshops there. Or our annual "Renewal" rituals, where we clean and bless the collar anew. That keeps the magic alive.

Julian: For me, the daily structure. Victoria decides many things – from finances to everyday life – and that gives me peace. Sessions are intense, but the highs are the little things: A "Good boy" from her makes my day. And the depth of trust: After ten years, I know her limits and she knows mine – that's priceless.

Queen`s Club Magazin: And the lows? Every long-term relationship has crises.

Victoria: Yes, there were. The biggest was five years ago: I had a burnout at work, lots of stress, and couldn't be dominant. I was irritable, impatient – and Julian suffered from it. We put the dynamic almost completely on hold for three months. That was tough, because it felt like loss.

Julian: Exactly. I felt disoriented without her guidance. We argued a lot – vanilla arguments, not kinky. But it forced us to talk: We did therapy (a kink-friendly therapist) and learned that the dynamic has to be flexible. Life happens – illness, stress, age.

Victoria: Another low was jealousy: Earlier, we played with others (at parties). That made Julian insecure. We decided to stay monogamous – just the two of us. That was the right decision.

Queen`s Club Magazin: What would you do differently today if you could start over?

Julian: More communication from the start. We were young and passionate, sometimes crossed boundaries because we didn't have enough check-ins. Today, we have weekly reviews: "What worked well? What needs adjusting?" I'd recommend that to any newbie.

Victoria: I'd learn earlier that dominance also means self-care. At the beginning, I felt responsible for everything – Julian's happiness, his fulfillment. That was overwhelming. Today I know: A good Domme takes care of herself first. And I'd invest more in education – books, workshops, mentors.

Julian: And I'd accept earlier that submission isn't weakness. Socially, there are prejudices – "A man who submits?" I struggled with that for a long time. Today I own it: It makes me strong because I choose to surrender.

Queen`s Club Magazin: How do you keep the dynamic fresh after ten years?

Victoria: Rituals and trying new things. We have fixed protocols (e.g., Julian kneels before me in the evenings), but vary sessions. Sometimes gentle, sometimes intense. And we plan "vanilla dates" – without dynamic, just as a couple. That balances.

Julian: Aftercare is key – not just after sessions, but daily. Victoria watches my mental health, and I watch hers. We read a lot (currently "The Heart of Dominance") and attend events. The community helps enormously.

Queen`s Club Magazin: One piece of advice for couples aspiring to a long-term D/s relationship?

Victoria: Be patient and realistic. It's not a fantasy – it's work, like any relationship. Communicate obsessively, respect boundaries, and adapt. Dominance and submission grow over time.

Julian: Trust is everything. And celebrate milestones – like our 10-year collar. It's worth it.

Queen`s Club Magazin: Thank you so much for your openness! Here's to the next ten years!

Victoria & Julian: Thank you – and to all readers: Live your dynamic authentically. It can be the most beautiful thing that happens to you.
